Dr Price works with a surgical team including theatre staff, anaethetists and an assistant surgeon. Information regarding your anaethetist and assisting surgeon will be given to you as part of the surgical information folder you receive. Please take this folder with you to hospital.
Things you need to know about your operation:-
PRE-OPERATIVE
- HOSPITAL PRE-ADMISSION FORM – This must be completed and given to the relevant hospital at least 5 days before your procedure.
- ESTIMATE OF FEES (FINANCIAL CONSENT FORM) – This details Dr Price’s quoted fee for your operation, and includes information on your out-of-pocket expenses. Details of your anaethetist and assistant surgeon will be given to you at your appointment. Please contact these people for a quote of their fees prior to your surgery.
- PATIENT CONSENT FORM – The form will have been signed while making your surgery date with Dr Price. Please take this to hospital with you in your information folder.
- PRE-OP CLINIC – If you are having major surgery at the Mater Hospital , the hospital will contact you for a pre-operative appointment. This appointment is a few weeks before your surgery. The nurse there will screen you for any risk factors for surgery and facilitate the admission and discharge process.
- MEDICATION – If you currently take any blood thinner medication, you will be required to cease this prior to your operation. Dr Price will alert you to this.
- WALKING AIDS – If you will require crutches,etc. on your discharge from hospital , please hire these in advance.
- HOME PLANNING – Arrange to have someone to help out with everyday tasks like cooking, shopping, laundry and driving.
- DAY SURGERY – If you are having day surgery, please remember to have someone available to take you home.
POST-OPERATIVE
- POST-OP APPOINTMENT:- Dr Price will need to see you 10 – 14 days after your surgery. Our reception staff will contact you to make an appointment.
